Nanbargale,

Let's have some fun along with duscussion about TFM. I am not saying we are not having fun, but let's have more fun :))

As everybody has guessed what it is going to be, I would like set some guidelines before we jump into the Game.

I am not sure whether this kind of topic is allowed in the TFM DF. If the TFM group feels that this topic is not related to TFM discussion you can feel free to delete/close this topic.

Guidelines:

1. I will start the first song and I will clearly mention which is the letter that the next song has to begin.

2. Similarly, whoever posts the song for a previous song should clearly mention the letter with which the other song should start. To avoid confusion adhil Kuril, Naedil yendru clearaaga mention seiyyavendum.
For Ex. a (Kuril) - Amaidhiyana nadhiyinilae Oodam or aa (Naedil) - Aalayamaniyin oosaiyai naan kaetaen

You can give more clarification to the letter for example if someone says i (Kuril) we will be in doubt whether we should start as ilamaiyenum poongattre, paadiyadhu oor paatte or iambadhilum aasai varum so to avoid this they can say i as in ilamai which actually means e or i as in iambadhu.

3. One should post a song only if one knows the complete and correct lyrics for atleast the first paragraph (Pallavi). One liners would not be much fun. (This is basically to limit the number of simultaneous postings). If possible give the MD, Movie and singers (This is avoid songs which no one has heard :) ).

4. If there are multiple simultaneous postings from different people then the next song should start from the latest posting.

5. I encourage others also to give any other guidelines if they find necessary. Guidelines are flexible can be changed anytime if necessary.

6. To avoid multiple postings for a single song, always try to reload the page before you post your favourite song.

7. Also I encourage people to post the complete lyrics if they want to, they need not be limited by first paragraph alone. But do not forget to mention the letter the next song should start.

8. Also people can stop anywhere in the song after the first paragraph and ask others to start with the last letter of the last line.

Nanbargale,

This is fun, Amar and Kanchana almost posted simultaneously, so CP could post only for Amar's song na (kuril), but he made a mistake by starting the song with na (nedil). He realised soon and posted the correct song again.

You should start with the latest song that appears in your display :)) For Ex. If I would have seen both Amar and Kanchana's at the same time then I would have posted for Kanchana's song because that becomes the latest.
That is why I suggest you to Reload the page before you post your song in mind.
For example I was thinking of Edho Mogham song, but when I reloaded the page, Sujatha had already posted that song :))

This does not mean that you can stop any where in between a line. You should complete the entire line :))

For Ex. maamara thoappinilae machaan....... should have been maamara thoappinilae machaan varum velaiyilae... and the letter should have been e (kuril). Indha murai mannitthuvidugiren :))

Our TFM rasigargal will always find a song :))
You will have to be patient until someone comes out with a song, if after a long time say more than 2 hours nobody responds then you could start a song with the last letter of the previous line and if the previous line also has "la" in it try to go back further until you can find a letter for which you can start a song. If there are no choices then I think this topic has to be closed (just kidding). But after you wait for 2 hours and posted a song for the previous line then after sometime somebody else (For Ex. Kanchana:) comes out with a song for the letter which you could not find a song, then you will get a negative point and Kanchana will get a positive point :))

Please follow Rajaraman's guideline for multiple responses. This is how it is followed in SUN TV I think. Whoever says first get a Prestige Rice Cooker or Summeet Mixie as prize :))

Also no songs can be repeated, I think everybody knows this rule in this Game. If repeated then they will be given a negative point and that song will not be considered as a chain to the previous song. The previous song will still be in Vogue.

Thx for the compliments above:)) Now, I have to make a correction to the new start letter:(( In thamizh, solluvaai is phoenetically spelled as: so+l+lu+vaa+yi. The ending letter is the consonant with the "yi" sound (a dot on top in the thamizh script). say, if "di" were the letter, people would

Since almost all starts can be converted to just
a, aa, e, ee, ..., I think we shouldn't allow
this.

As Rajaraman pointed out we should take the tamil consonant as the last letter.

For Ex. Iambadhu - in tamizh "dhu" is tha last consonant, so it is not "u" or any combos of "u"

Ilamai - in tamizh "mai" is the last letter, so it is not "i" or any combos of "i".

So try to take the last tamizh letter in the word :))

I think in Internet Explorer (IE) you need to press the refresh button inorder to get the latest update on the topic. So try it out. As long as I know there shouldn't be a need to close the browser and open it again.

If somebody has posted a response just one minute ago then the person who put the response one minute ago gets the point, and you will niether get a positive point nor a negative point.

I am refining the guideline for the last letter a bit more.

For Ex. Iambadhu - in tamizh "dhu" is tha last consonant, so it is not "u" or any combos of "u", but it can be any combos of "dha" which means "dha" "dhu" "dhi" but everything should be kuril only.

Ilamai - in tamizh "mai" is the last letter, so it is not "i" or any combos of "i". But it can be any combos of "ma" (Kuril) like "mae" "me" "mu" etc.

So, if there is a fight between two of you :)) can I be the final judge who will give the final point :))). OK I think you all agree :))

Kanchana: I can think of no scheme to avoid this confusion, that doesn't require some one to push a reset button. :(. That is needed whenver the system has to recover from an error like some one entering a non-song or repeating an already posted song or mistakenly (or otherwise) starts off a song wrongly. I do not see imm. how this can be avoided. appadi vEra vazhi illaina we can take turns being monitors. ;-).

Bhaskar: I have two objections.. On a personal level, I work from a vt100 terminal. So it is very difficult for me to do what you say. :)

Based on Sathya's and Sujatha's input, it seems that we should revisit the rules. My understanding from the early discussions (Rajaraman, Amar et al) is that as long as it is a reasonable letter (not L or zh) we should continue with that exact letter.
But if it is an unreasonable letter like the dotted consonants (ik,ch.it,th,ip,iR etc.) then we will get into the "varisai". Have the rules changed?

As Sujatha suggests why don't we all revisit the rules (since it's been a long game) and you put it up in bold? Just a suggestion. :)))))
