Raja's decline supposedly started in 90s. But I have enjoyed many of his songs
which came out during this recent past. There are excellent songs which did not get their
due recognition because either the picturisation was pathetic or the words were not in sync with the tune. Or maybe as Raja said in the recent interview to Vikatan people wanted
BEATsy songs even for sad situations (like ennai kanavilaiye in kadhal Desam).

Can we look at some of the good songs by Raja which came in the recent past?

For example there is a song in Vanaja/Girija which is delicious. I dont know the words.
There is another great song in Aathma.

In Vanaja Girija the song is
"Munnam seidha thavam unnai ennidathil serthathu"

There are two very good songs in Aathma
"Kannale kadhal kavithai sonnale enakkaga
Kannalan aasai manadhai thanthale adharkaga"

and

"Velakku vaipom velakku vaipom"

The other movies which had very good songs and went unnoticed are:

Kattumarakaran:
"Vetri Vetri endru sollum koiyil mani muthama"
"Kathum kadal ulle oru mutheduthu vandhen"
"Akkaraiyilla enga vazhkaiyile"

Pattu Pada vaa:
"Poongatrile Padhai thoram poothuvuthu"
"Vazhi vidu Vazhi vidu Vazhi vidu en devi varugiral"

Analazhagan:
"Netru vandha katru "

Nandhavana Theru:

OOps! Before I posted my song, Gopal has posted some songs that I had written. What a response to this topic. This shows the greatness of IR and his evergreen songs.

Sorry CP.. but Netru Vandha Katru was from Kanmani. Other good songs that I can think of :

Do you mean that IR has descended to the level of complaining about ARR's songs?

3) Eh kaNmaNiyE kaNmaNiyE solluvathaik kELu - sinna vaaththiyaar - This is a novel attempt where Rohini speaks small dialogues for every line sung by SPB. Superb usage of Ghatam.

Any body remembers the songs
from Adarman. there were few good
songs. Rahman mentioned a beatsy
flok song from that movie, saying

Ennappa adhu Poomani? Padama? Enga kidaikum Poomani songs?
I am glad that many have observed the three best songs from Poovarasan, Kanji kalyam from Muthu Kaalai, Kanmaniye from Chinna vathiyar,etc.,

Kumar: I think its velli kilamayile from sakaraithevan sung by IR. I also find that song rhyming with Chinna mani kuyilu from KPanchayathu.
I love these two songs.

Can someone throw light on the ragaas of these songs??

Gokul enthu adhigam aanathaalE example kuduththuttaar. IR has said that people's taste has changed. He has not sited any example for a song or an MD.

Kumar: It is thanneer kudam kondu by SJ. A shorter version by Malaysia also exists. There is also a solo by IR, which was quite decent.

One of favorites of IR's recent (?) productions is the mAmA song in
ponnnumaNi. pUmaNi had an excellent bgm (only bgm and nothing else)
and there was on oft-repeated flute(?) piece that knocks you off-gaurd.

gOpAl, your dexcription of the vanajA-girijA song to be delicious
is enjoyable !!!.

Unfortunately, I have not heard most of the songs that are mentioned in
this thread.
