Kannadhaasan Vs. Vairamuthu TFM Symposium Topic 4: Vaarththai Prayoagam

For a good understanding of how to approach this ongoing symposium, please refer to the thread, "Kannadhaasan Vs. Vairamuthu TFM Symposium Topic 1:Iyarkai Varnanai" before you post. Let me reiterate that this is not a patti mandram, but
a research symposium.
Please show TFM examples of both poets with regards to just theirVaarththai Prayoagam for this thread. By vaarththai prayoagam, we mean captivating use of language, word play, different use of a known word, vocabulary, etc. Please provide the name of the song whose lines you excerpt and the name of the movie if known.

  SIDEBAR: Maybe it often seems that I'm leaning towards VM in this symposium. I'm just trying to balance the scales of representation. Since Kannadhaasan's TFM lyrics are widely published and remembered, there is never a shortage of his representation here. VM's works are hard to find and harder to unearth from songs with all the modern music crowding it, so please remember that when you read my postings. I have more books by Kannadhaasan than any other single author in English or Thamizh. So objectivity is very present here since I love the works of both VM and Kannadhaasan.

  There is a vast difference between Kannadhasan and Vairamuthu.
  
  Once you hear Kannadhasan's song, you immediately feel in your heart "Ah! This is what I want to tell myself; This is what I really feel of this situation".
  
  Vairamuthu's song will describe the feeling with decorative words and imagination which are truly of high quality but you dont feel the heart of the poet.
  
  K puts the heart in the situation. V puts the mind in the situation.
  
  K's song hits your heart. V's hits your mind.
  
  The poet in K involves himself in the problem/situation. The poet in V stands aloof and describes the problem/situation.
  
  Hearing K's song doesn't lead you to the IQ of the poet. The poet dissolves in you. It is your own feeling which is put into words by K.
  
  Hearing V's song leads you to the IQ of the poet and you are compelled to marvel the ability of the poet which is not you but somebody who stands at a distance.

  Thanks for a very thoughtful writeup. I feel good that someone out there still reads the symposium threads. Now, if we can only get the TFM admins to put the symposium in the "permanent" threads or some place where one can access all 10 threads...hmmm!
