I saw Virumandi by paying extra.
Why KAMAL..? Why u proved all that told by K.Balachander in Virumandi VIZHA.
It is better to have directors like BHARATHAN ( DEVAR MAHAN ) to deliver a good interesting movie.
Virumandi was very raw and not able to sit in the second half.
Dont confuse the audience with ur confused state of mind.
Iam UPSET and my friends ridicule me as a fan of yours.

Thanks for the info Ravi
I don't remember PA making waves at the box office. Looks like the inspired is a bigger hit than the inspiration.

I know most of the discussion already happened about this movie. I got chance to see it only yesterday.
I made a resoultion not to watch any Kamal movies after seeing "Kurudhi Punal" (except comedy). After reading all the posts praising this movie, I thought I will give one more chance to Kamal.
I regret it.
Does Kamal know he can make good movies with out Violence and Sex? No logic, just lots of Violence and you know what.
Anyway - this post it about a BGM piece. There couple of places I heard "God Father" music.
1) After first set of Murders, when Kamal goes down the well to save a screaming woman.
2) In the court, just before his death penalty.
That piece is a clear "lift" from God Father.
HCIR Fans - Any comments?

Virumandi's BGM has nothing to do with God Father's music.
Some people (mostly with limited knowledge), can't accept and appreciate original works and continue to discredit the creator. Why should every BGM of an Indian music director be a lift from God Father?
This attitude is mostly seen in the so-called Hindi music reviewers (who rate the mediocre Nadeem Shravans and Anu Maliks as the greatest MDs alive) used to say that every song of Rahman sounded the same. One of them even said that Rangeela songs were a rehash of Roja songs!!!
I suggest you buy the DVDs of both Virumandi and God Father and play it for yourself!

It may be possible the God Father music copied from Virumandi... What do you think?
May be Marlan Brando Copied Kamal Hassan from Nayagan?
May be Mario Puzo copied God Father from Mani Ratnam's Nayagan..
May be Mario Puzo again copied God Father from Thevar Magan
May be "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" copied from Anbe Sivam
May be...
May be...

Sriram, Let's not talk about movie directors and actors. Since it is about music, let's talk about music composers Nino Rota and IR;-)

I do not have to prove anything to anybody. I know what I wrote is true. I hoped somebody would have noticed it just like me. Moreover I do not have DVDs of these movies, to create the clippings.
Even if I prove, it will become just another "leela" of their idol or Kamal Hassan insisted on using the music etc., (There are already posts indicating how Kamal might have influenced Virumandi music...)
overruled - If you got time, please play the scenes I mentioned, notice a Violin(?) piece in the background.(I am not sure whether it is Violin or some other instrument). This piece used at many places in God Father movie. It is an unmistakable piece.
zz - you are right, I should have never posted the above note.
I am sorry.

Friends,
'VirumaaNdi' has been dubbed in Telugu as 'Pothuraaju', with SPB singing and speaking for Kamal. They are said to have struggled a lot to locate a local deity similar to (and rhyming with!!) 'viru viru maaNdi virumaaNdi'. ('Jai Jai Jai Jai Pothuraaju', the song goes!)Swarnalatha and Sujatha have replaced Shreya Ghoshal. Most songs have been shortened to be exactly in line with what appears on screen. Both 'annalakshmi kaNNasachchaa' and 'SaNdiyarE! SaNdiyarE!' are in the female voice (Swarnalatha). All the songs are available in Musicindiaonline. You may like to compare & contrast!
Only one version of 'andha kaaNdaamaNi Osa..' is available in this site and the professional wailing short song by Paravai Muniamma 'maada veLakkE, magaraasiyE, maNNOda pOniyE' is not to be found! I am sure they are too indispensable to be edited from the film!
