Dear Satish,
Remaining in the limelight of the film industry is not an actual reflection of one's abilities.
The Maestro is what he is and WILL REMAIN SO!!
Your remark about IR losing ground in the film-industry is totally irrelevant. One must understand that even though IR has spent most of his efforts in making film music, he's no ordinary musician.
I am quite appalled at the fact that you call yourself an ardent IR fan and yet you fail to realize that he is a true genius.
His current 'commercial' status is irrelevant.

I posted this article in IR's New Album thread without knowing about this thread...
Director Kalangium (Poomani, Kizhakkum Merkum, Poonthottam) says IR is not MD for his own production because distributos do not want IR as the MD. What happened to these producers?
I can only say IR born in a wrong state, wrong country. Read the link below.

STS,
there is nothing wrong with the producers. They are doing business and trying to make a living. Can't allow the interference of their personal tastes or preferences.
Vithi!! we are loosing good numbers from IR. :-(

No raaja is adamant in changing to time and trend , unless he relaxes he shall face such things

Bug,
Well said. I agree with you fully. My point is why
are distributors up against IR who still gives good numbers and best BGM? Hmm, may be I am biased towards IR. But that is not what I intent.
Satish,
I don't understand when you say Raaja does not change with time and trend. I am not sure.
Atleast recent times with his interviews, talks he looks more sober (don't see any arrogance). Is it the past problems cropping up now? If the distributors think he is not upto their expectations, I can only differ with them

STS, distributors are not against IR.... its WE, meaning the people whose taste has simply changed.... even though IR gave many gems, other than Hey Ram, none of the other cassettes made any sales at all (including Kannukul Nilavu).... so how do u expect distributors to take IR for the movie (unless the director is adamant).... Kalangium, for one used to be adamant, and now he too has moved out.... for sure this is not good for IR's carrer in the music industry.... but may be, he can now start concentrating a lot of non-filmy albums.....

"none of the other cassettes made any sales at all (including Kannukul Nilavu)...."
Sabesan, the above observation seems to be a little exaggerated...agreed KN's sales didn't match probably `vAnatha pOla', but it sold in good numbers nevertheless...and the songs were hits in TN (& parts of Kerala as well)...
Another Q : Is a film MD selected for cassette sales alone? (I don't think so)

Sabesan,
I don't fully agree with you that our taste changed fully. I doubt IR is not matching SAR, Deva and other MDs in cassette sales. I can give good number of movies after Hey Ram with excellent songs. Well, put it other way. It all may be cost factor. IR may be expensive compared to others (ofcourse ARR is most expensive). This can be one reason. Apart from that Directors can't have much say unless they have confidenece in the subject. Take Sethu's Nanda, Balu Mahendra, recenly a Mal director who said he will direct movie in Tamil only if IR scores. True, confidence level is falling.
IR is King, he should live like a king and die like a king. For god's shake, don't suggest him what to do or how to do. I personally feel he has made Tamilians proud with his music geniusness.
Regards
